Christendom seems mildly confused about the weeks of Advent. One source will tell you this is the week of love, another source claims it is the week of peace, and yet a third source states it is the week of forgiveness, grace, and renewal. Yes this is the messiness of theology. Theology is simply human's study of God, therefore it is messed up like us! It is what drives some to walk away from the wonder of faith, and what has driven others to argue their positions through the ages. Does it matter? Really?
What If
What if we concocted an Advent soup? What if we decided it didn't matter what the week represented to all the different folks? What if we made a commitment to forgive ourselves and each other for being less than? What if we made peace with those who had hurt us? And what if in doing we found a sense of peace and personal renewal?
Don't walk away from the wonder of faith this Christmas. Watch, wait, and listen for the presence of God - in the presence of God, where ever you happen to be.
